First of all, a very Happy Bengali New Year to all of you. Hope you guys are doing well. 🙂 I am so sorry for not being active lately. I was travelling for a couple of days. So didn’t got the time to write anything in between. Today I came up with two of the Maybelline Newyork eyeshadow palettes. Most of you already knew about “The Nudes” and “The Blushed Nudes” palettes from Maybelline. So I am going to review “The 24K Nudes” & “The Rock Nudes” from the same range which are the gifts from my cousin brother. 😀
I don’t know about the exact price, it should be somewhere around 800/- to 1000/- INR. I have searched online and found The Rock Nudes for 925/- in Nykaa.com and The 24k Nudes in 1920/- in amazon.in. (I really don’t know why it’s showing this high price, it shouldn’t be more than 1k). I will put the links below.
How to use:
All the details are written in the back of the palettes. So you can check it out here.
The palettes are very compact with a see-through window from where the shades are nicely visible. The 24k Nudes have a beautiful gold packaging and The Rock nudes have the black colored box. These can be easily carried around. They also contain a dual-ended brush each which works well too. But there is no mirror in the packaging and that’s a huge drawback. 😦
Anyways, it comes with 12 shades each, the 24k Nudes have mostly warm shades than the Rock Nudes.
I am showing the swatches here so that you can understand about the colors and the pigmentation properly.
For The 24K Nudes:
As you can see, in the 24k nude palette only 3 of the colours are matte in texture(2,5,10), one semi matte(7) and others are shimmery. The gold, bronze and the black shades are really gorgeous. Others are okay kind of. The Lighter colours can be used for highlighting purpose. This palette is good for everyday use.
For The Rock Nudes:
Coming to the Rock nude palette; 5 are matte(4,5,8,11,12), 2 semi matte(1,9), and rest are shimmery. With this one you can make some bold look because most of the colors are dark in shade.
The texture are smooth and bendable. But most of the colours are not looking as bright as in the palette after swatching. Some of the shades have the chalky, powdery finish that I really don’t like. It can make a mess while applying, so be careful. It stays up to 5 to 6 hours depending on your base makeup.
- Good for beginners.
- Smooth and pigmented.
- Easy to blend.
- Comes with an applicator.
- Lasting power is good.
- Travel friendly.
- Decently priced.
- No mirror
- Not all colors are pigmented. (you can check my earlier post EYESHADOW HACKS for this)
- Texture could me better
- Some of the shades are a bit chalky
- Availability can be an issue for these 2 palettes in India. Here are the links:

So overall, this is a good palette in this price range to start with. I was thinking to buy the 1st palette earlier from this range which is The Nudes. But as I have got these two palettes as a gift , I am not going to purchase any other from this same range. I would rather try to buy a better eyeshadow palette with more matte shades than the shimmery ones. 🙂
Let me know about your experience in the comment section below if you are using any of these palettes.
